📘 S-QMACS User Guide
Quick Start Guide
This guide covers the basic workflow: opening S-QMACS, entering catenary data, running the tension cases and reading the Analysis Result table.
1. Access the Software
- Open the S-QMACS application in a modern browser — no installation, no command line.
- Download the User Manual from the same page if you need the full reference.
- Enter the login email and password from your activation email, then click Login.
- Paste your activation token and click Activate.
- Check the licence expiry date shown in the header.
2. Enter Main Inputs
- Mooring line type, diameter, breaking strength and weight in air.
- Water depth, line length and fairlead or softpin reference.
- Material density, seawater density and seabed friction factor.
- Acceptance clearance: vertical clearance to the asset and, where relevant, the required minimum.
3. Add Buoys and Assets
- Buoy: station along the line, net uplift, dry weight, height, optional diameter and pennant length.
- Asset: type (pipeline or sub-sea structure), horizontal distance from fairlead, crown height above seabed and width / OD.
- Asset class plus the line crosses asset flag decide the anchor-to-asset rule (250 m crossing, 150 m not crossing, 300 m structure).
- Check coordinates and direction convention before running.
4. Add Tension Cases
- Input the required fairlead tension cases.
- Run several cases to identify the governing clearance or touchdown condition.
- Compare low, normal and high tension behaviour where relevant.
5. Review Analysis Results
- Anchor radius from fairlead and touchdown distance.
- Grounded laydown — stretched and unstretched.
- Vertical clearance to each asset, plus anchor-to-asset clearance against the governing rule.
- Buoy submergence and effective uplift; anchor vertical uplift and uplift angle against the 2° limit.
- Line tension at anchor and at fairlead.
6. Reading the Case State
Clearance is reported pass or fail against the configured criterion, with the margin shown. The case itself carries a state: OK when every check is inside its limit, NOT ACCEPTABLE when a limit such as the anchor uplift angle is exceeded, CONDITIONAL when the solver cannot represent mid-span seabed contact or lift-off and the case needs multi-contact verification, and INVALID when the calculation itself cannot be trusted. A conditional or invalid case is not an approval.
